Professional Stunt Performer/Action Actor
THE FULL STORY
BIO

I’m Sam Desmond and I’ve been passionate about the world of stunts and daredevils since I was young. Ever since I can remember, I’ve been an action addict. I spent days watching gripping scenes and action movies but never considered becoming a stuntman.
At the age of 34, I decided to follow that passion and entered a competition called the Action Star Tv Series where I made it to the finals but missed out getting into the top 12. After that experience and getting to meet and learn from the Legendary Richard Norton, I was hooked so I started training to become a professional Stunt Performer.
Even with a strong background in Boxing, Athletics, General & Extreme Sports, Rally Driving and Farm Animals, I soon realised how much I needed to change my life to pursue this challenging and rigorous career.

In 2018, I drove from Western Australia to Queensland and left behind our family farm of 30 years and my successful fencing business of 15 years, so I could train to become fully certified. Being a father of three young children, the first two years were very challenging but my family continues to support my decision to follow this new career path.
After completing my first intensive Stunt course at the Stunt Academy in Queensland, I was asked to return to attend a more advanced course a few months later. I was then offered a position working and instructing at the Stunt Academy by the Principal Colin Handley and have been working there since February 2019. I have made some great friends there and have had many amazing opportunities arise from working at the Stunt Academy. I am very grateful for having met Colin and am proud to call the Stunt Park my home.

After finishing my first stunt course I had the opportunity to volunteer with the "Extra Specialists Group" to fill sand bags and work on the set of a feature film called "Danger Close" during which I was also cast as a military extra for a few scenes. In 2019, I was employed as a set decorators assistant in the art department on a Paramount Picture production called "Monster Problems" there I was able to see how a film is made from beginning to end for the first time.

I am now graded as a Stunt Actor Provisional (SAP) and am aiming for Stunt Actor.
Late 2019, I was fortunate enough to be asked to join the Garrison 7 stunt team and perform at Supanova Brisbane 2019 and Gold Coast 2020 live stunt shows, which was one of the greatest experiences I have had.
I've been called an all-rounder who has the ability to learn fast on the job as I pay close attention to detail, I have an unmatched work ethic, hold a strong dedication to the entertainment industry and have a good understanding of productions and film sets. As a professional Stunt Performer, I always put safety first and work hard to promote the interests of my fellow stunt artists.
